Race Description:
Race HQ: Lake James State Park (Paddys Creek)
Welcome back to the longest running and longest adventure race in North Carolina! Yes, we are talking about 26.2 hours of paddling, trekking and mountain biking in the mountains of the Lake James State Park.
Race HQ: Lake James State Park (Paddy’s Creek)
Disciplines: Trekking, mountain biking and paddling
Waivers: All participants must sign a Release and Waiver of Liability, Assumption of Risk, and Indemnity Agreement.
- Check-in: 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M., Saturday, November 5th
- Mandatory pre-race meeting: 10:00 A.M.
- Race Starts: 11:00 A.M.
- Race End (26.2 hour): 1:12 P.M., Sunday, November 6th
- Celebration dinner and awards: Upon completion of race
$160 per racer
Boats: Each team needs to either
1) Provide their own kayak / canoe or
2) Rent through NCARS (see add-on options during registration)
*There will be a limited number of boats for rent — first come, first served.

Required individual gear:
- A functional MOUNTAIN bike; no road or cycle cross bikes
- CPSC marked bicycling helmet on any bike, ropes section and moving water class 3 or greater
- Type I, II, or III PFD while paddling (Blinking Red or White light on 1 person in boat)
- Light stick on PFD if paddling between sunset and sunrise
- Food, drink to last the duration of the race
- A pen/ pencil/ sharpie
- Knife
- Whistle
- Individual headlight with extra batteries
- Bike lights with extra batteries on the bike legs; white front, red rear
- Emergency blanket or Bivy sack Required Team gear:
- Compass
- Watch
- Cell phone
- Basic first aid kit
- Light sticks on stern and bow.(Blinking light while on the boat)
- Map Plotting tool with 1:24 scale option
- Water Purification system (pump, straw, tablets)
- Appropriate clothing for the weather conditions; check the forecast before you leave
- Waterproof map case
- Water purification method
- Spare bike tube, method of tire/tube inflation and bike repair kit
