Hello all, in the past 4 years as we have grown this series, we have depended on volunteers. Perhaps you know that Gerry Farris and I, as co-race directors, volunteer all of our time. Jay Anderson has created this fabulous website. Mike Dickinson regularly updates the maps. Course designers rotate regularly. At the NCARS #2 race in May, 2009 it was just delightful to have 10+ on the support team... Volunteers make this sport happen.
At most events we need 4+ people to help with racer registration, and 4+ to help support at transition areas or special activities. When we are at the USNWC, their staff is paid and they are first-rate.
We have had 14 year olds taking pictures, 8 month old pregnant mothers checking passports, college students distributing PFDs, and 60+ year olds making sure that people wear big blue feet when doing a silly special task. So, YOU or your GROUP will fit right in...
Yes of course, we will give you a tee shirt. And community service hours...
For each event there are also volunteers who pre-race the course, check the CPs, hang CPs, then take down CPs.
If you are interested in helping at any time please reply to Doug [at] action-learning.com. Thanks!
